Not necessarily. The current estimated system charges an amount unrelated to actual consumption, which is what makes it unfair. With a smart meter the bill is calculated on the cubic metres actually consumed, at a tariff starting from 100 dinars per cubic metre, so a household with moderate consumption will usually pay less.

The total price of the meter is 60,000 Iraqi dinars, collected from residential subscribers in instalments of 10,000 dinars per month. Government, commercial, industrial and agricultural properties pay in one instalment, or two at most.

The mobile teams of Al Janoob Islamic Bank, in coordination with the water directorates in the governorates, visit areas to record and update subscriber data and install the modern meters. You may also call subscriber services or message us from the contact page to ask when the teams will reach your area.

The collector reads the meter with an electronic device fitted with a QR reader and prints an instant receipt for you on a portable printer. You can pay on the spot, at the water directorate, or through ATMs, points of sale and smart applications using MasterCard and Visa cards.

Yes. The meters selected for the project are resistant to Iraq's harsh climate conditions and can be upgraded in future to keep pace with updates to the system.

One cubic metre equals 1,000 litres. The tariff is calculated for each cubic metre separately: the first at 100 dinars, the second at 120, the third at 140, the fourth at 160, and the fifth and above at 180 dinars.

The project covers all governorates of Iraq except the Kurdistan Region and is being implemented in phases. To ask when the teams will reach your area, contact the project office in your governorate from the contact page.
