About the Project

Water measured accurately, bills paid fairly

A national initiative implemented by the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works in cooperation with Al Janoob Islamic Bank to replace conventional meters with smart meters in all governorates of Iraq except the Kurdistan Region.

The National Water Meter Installation Project

Replacing estimation with measurement in every Iraqi home

The smart water meter installation project is an ambitious national initiative implemented by the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works in cooperation with Al Janoob Islamic Bank. The project aims to replace old conventional meters with modern smart meters that provide accurate readings and advanced technology for managing water consumption.

This helps reduce waste and rationalise water consumption in all governorates of Iraq except the Kurdistan Region. The project includes installing smart meters capable of withstanding Iraq's harsh climate, together with the deployment of electronic point-of-sale devices in public markets, making electronic payment by bank card and smart device easier.

The project also establishes a customer service centre to receive complaints and respond to enquiries about bills and services. As for costs, the project offers citizens flexible payment plans, allowing the cost of the meter to be paid in convenient instalments so that everyone can benefit from the new services at the lowest possible cost.
